What is the Oakland Conservation District and what does it do?
We are a federally mandated, state supported local unit of government, designed to provide natural resource information and technical assistance to Oakland County residents, municipalities and governments.
We are a local organization here to support YOU. If you need information about soil, water, or other natural resources, we can help. You may be familiar with our fundraisers, like our tree sales and native plant sales. These sales allow us to partner with other organizations as well as create our own natural resource projects. Projects include backyard wildlife certification, lakescaping, organic farming, technical assistance for businesses, local units of government and homeowners.
We love volunteers and if you'd like to help at our events, email us and we'll add your name to the list.
Our organization is guided by a public-elected 5 member Board of Directors. Most serve three year terms. If you want to be more involved, come to one of our Board meetings, held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at our office in Davisburg. Meetings start at 7:15 PM and end at 9:00 pm.
Our current Board of Directors:
Michael McGuinness, Chairperson
Paul Gambka, Treasurer
Warren Edwards, Director
Patrick Costello, Director
Thomas Middleton, Associate Director
Cindy Reid, interim Administrator
We share a Conservationist with Lapeer County, Jay Blair, USDA NRCS
Let us know how we can help YOU!
